In Christopher Mudgett's Woman Before Window, 2015 we are presented with an intriguing portrait of a woman in Mudgett's distinctive geometric abstract style. Dressed in a white blouse, she stands before a minimalistic window, her geometric form filling in and dominating the space. We seem to be viewing her from multiple angles and moments at once. She is looking directly at us, then suddenly it seems as if her eyes are shifting as she turns away to look out of this lightened space behind her, and then turns back and light breaks sharply on her cheekbone. She is posing still for us and yet her static image is continuously suggesting movement, and we see her through the magical filter of Mudgett’s eyes. A paradigm of Cubist mastery, this enthralling portrait is as beautiful as it is strange.

This limited edition print on Canson museum grade paper is hand-signed by Christopher Mudgett in pencil in the lower right margin and numbered from the edition of 50 in pencil in the lower left margin. Published exclusively by the Mudgett Estate, and printed in Los Angeles, this work is created after the original oil on canvas entitled Woman Before Window, painted by Mudgett in 2015.
