Limited Prints: How to Determine Edition Size
The number of prints made of any given image in a Limited edition is called the "edition size". It is usually then followed by a number which informs how many are in that particular edition. for example. Mudgett's limited edition prints were made in "Edition of 100" which means there were only 100 made and it will never be reissued again. That means the work will no longer ever be available again in the same capacity. it may be seen however as a lesser quality work, a poster, a coffee mug, a rug, but never again will it be available in the same medium, in that size, from the artist. There are only x amount of each, it will not be reissued which gives the piece more prestige and cache over just any other un authorized reproduction making it more rare and sought after by collectors.
